Greens will fight government gas pipe dream in Tech Roadmap

Greens Leader Adam Bandt has pledged to fight the government’s gas push laid out in the Technology Road Map Discussion Paper released by the government today.

Mr Bandt also said the leaked COVID Commission push for a gas-rush shows the corruption of process the government is using to develop a plan for manufacturing.

“We need to be ending Australia’s addiction to toxic methane gas not feeding it,” Mr Bandt said.

“Coal, oil and gas are the primary cause of the climate crisis. We can't solve the climate emergency and economic crisis by pouring gas on the fire.”

Greens Senator Larissa Waters visits Noosa today for community discussion on future jobs for region

Greens Deputy Leader and Senator for Queensland Larissa Waters and the Noosa Greens will co-host a community discussion on the future of jobs in the local region at Peregian Beach Community House from 6.30pm tonight.

 

The ‘Jobs of the Future’ event will hear a range of views from teachers, experts and local people with an interest in diversifying the economy, creating long-term jobs and helping graduates enter the workplace.

Govt rejects Senate Inquiry recommendations to improve transparency in operation of Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF)

The Australian Government has rejected key recommendations of the Senate Inquiry into the governance and operation of the Northern Australian Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) aimed at improving transparency and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Greens Co-deputy leader and Senator for Queensland Larissa Waters said the Morrison Government had rejected the evidence in favour of continuing with a politically motived waste of taxpayers’ money designed to funnel community resources into projects like Adani.

Waters and Bandt announce plan to create clean energy jobs for Qld

47,570 full-time jobs a year would be created in Queensland under the Greens plan to rapidly transform Australia’s energy system to renewables by 2030.

Greens energy spokesperson Adam Bandt MP said: "coal is the world’s biggest cause of climate change and Australia is the world’s biggest exporter of coal with 80 per cent of what we dig up being sent overseas to be burned. Unless we phase out coal, we can’t deal with climate change and the Greens are the only party to have a plan to do it."
