Queenslanders reject One Nation’s tired old politics of fear and division

The Australian Greens say Pauline Hanson and One Nation offer us nothing but the tired old politics of fear and racial division.

Australian Greens Deputy Leader and Queensland Senator Larissa Waters said the majority of Queenslanders rejects Senator Hanson's utterly racist and hateful views.

“Emboldened by events in America Senator Hanson’s fanciful thought-bubble that Queensland could be led by a Premier from One Nation show that it is she that is out of touch with large sections of the population, said Senator Waters

“Pauline Hanson does not speak all for all Queenslanders.  We are not intolerant, we’re certainly not bigots, and we’re not racists.

“Twenty years ago she first entered our parliament on the same platform of vilification and division.

“When it very quickly became apparent Senator Hanson had nothing else to offer, voters rejected her after just one term

“Senator Hanson positions herself as an alternative to the old political establishment but offers nothing but the tired old politics of fear and racial intolerance.

“One Nation has caved in to the Liberals’ most harmful attacks on low income earners, including the punitive four-week wait for income support and cuts to poverty-level payments like Newstart and Youth Allowance.

“The Australian Greens agree the current status quo is not working for people or our planet, but we deserve better from our leaders than the hollow politics of division.

“That is why we are working towards a fairer and more inclusive society which is a real vision for the future for all Queenslanders.”
